The good news is that our wall will not have to be opened after all. The hole in the pipe is somewhere higher up and our wall will hopefully dry completely over the next eight days.
Which is the bad news. We will have to live with the smell for another week and the only thing we can do to reduce the odour and increase the process of drying is opening the windows. Luckily the weather has some mercy on us.

Thanks for the tips, by the way, [livejournal.com profile] nelladarren and [livejournal.com profile] katy. With the threat over receiving a painfully reduced rent check from us this month the plumber was called within minutes.

While they were outside in the hallway talking I heard the guy tell the owners:
“This whole house is in a terrible state as far as the installations are concerned. I would advise a complete re-piping.”
They smiled politely.
I know those smiles.
I know exactly what they mean.
Roughly translated the read:
“Yeah, like we will spend that amount of money on a house that we don’t actually live in.”

So I guess it is time for us to seriously start looking for another apartment.

craft's people always get this evil look on their faces when the opportunity arises.

never step into a garage when your car is checked. otherwise you will no longer see it as save, unless you paid € 1000 on repairs and service.
